Presentation of the game

Masks of Sins is an end-of-first-year of Game Design project where, along with the rest of my group, we decided to embark on creating the demo for an action-adventure game.

  • Creation of the story of the game.

  • Conception and implementation of the gameplay mechanics and elements in the game engine.

  • Research of references for the decors, environement and characters.

Production :

This game was created at the end of my first year of studies, with two of my classmates. The production of this game to last about 1 month and a half. In order to have the game stick as much as possible to our vision, we were able to work with a class of 3D students who provided us with assets, according to our needs. However, it was sometimes necessary to obtain those assets from the Epic Games asset store, especially for everything related to VFX.

An ancient threat

Let me tell you the story of Azeria.In the beginning the mages ruled, their powers unquestionable, until the day when eight wizards appeared from a place called the Pit. They demanded their worship from the mages, forcing them to bend the knee before them. From their refusal emerged a fierce and bloody battle. The wizards were victorious and Azeria plunged into darkness.


As the evil spread, causing chaos and desolation, a being of wisdom appeared, Godius, the mighty Archmage, stood against them. He locked the power of each wizard inside magical masks before entrusting them to the guardians. But… the hero disappeared, leaving no trace behind.

The years passed and one after another, the guardians perished, leaving their descendants to protect the masks. Some of them were determined to unite the devastating powers of the eight wizards and restore the darkness, the order of shadows was born…

As their dark plans rose on this world, you appeared.

Gameplay

The fights

During his adventure in Azeria, the player will face various enemies. To face them, he will have at his disposal weapons and several powers.
First of all, he has two melee weapons. A blade on his right hand and a clawed gauntlet on his left hand, when attacking he can perform combos in order to attack his enemies.
The player will also have access to various magic powers, offered by the mask he wears, each mask has different powers and the player can switch between masks at any time.

The exploration and the puzzles

The player will dive into a world that is unknown to him, he will therefore have to explore it in order to better understand it and its history.
However, the places he will visit are not all without danger, some are in unhospitable environments, hiding creatures, traps and puzzles that the player will have to solve in order to advance in these places.
